Our History |
We are also a National Association member of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic [FICS] which is recognized by the World Olympian's Association.
Despite our small size, we maintain the difference between the local medical "Khiropraktors", and the Western profession of Chiropractic. The RCA was founded in 1992 by Dr. Stephen Press, DC, PhD, who was appointed Chief Physician of the USSR Olympic Team, in 1992. His clinic was then operating full time at the City Hospital No. 15 in Vuikhina region of Moscow. This clinic was a joint venture with the Chief Neurologist of The City of Moscow. Dr. Press is now Chairman of the Russian Chiropractic Association's Sports Council.
Several years ago another group of DC's have established a clinic in St. Peterburg, and using a Chiropractor who came to Russia through a program from an unaccredited Chiropractic club in Arizona, they set up clinics in the far east and then in St. Petersburg. Dr. Register on the other hand stayed in Moscow and continues to practice there.
NB: This other group puts out press information which totally ignores the memory and work of Dr. Press, and others who gave so much time and money to help establish Chiropractic in the former Soviet Republics, especially in Russia. One can make one's own contribution, but to ignore those who have come before, and simply wipe out their contributions is a very small act of very small people.
